Wawel Cup 37. – Let’s get started!

Wawel Cup 36. is already a part of history. We held the meeting to summarise this year event. Thank you all for your participation and completing the online survey – we are always open you your feedback!

Wawel Cup won’t be lacking of rocky terrains, challenging orienteering and hot atmosphere! We are also now ready with few innovation for next year event!

– brand new design for our website as a communication channel with you

– a separation of roles of event director and accommodation director what will help the process of booking the accommodation (at gym hall or at camping) more efficient

– novelty: stage with a mass start – it will be technically challenging and eye-catching!

– afternoon sprint run in the rocks – separate sign up available

– more control point in the forest so that orienteering run during Wawel Cup will become even more difficult.

Attention!!! Change of competition date!

Given your feedback, we have decided to get back to “traditional date” of Wawel Cup. The competition will take place a week later than initially planned, which is between 4th and 8th July 2018. Those interested will be able to directly go to Hungarian JWOC. We already encourage all of you to join the unforgettable Wawel Cup 37.! There will be a lot going on!

Wawel Cup 2017 in numbers!

It is already two weeks after the competition. The excitement calmed down so it’s time for a bit of statistics!

4 – this number stands for the number of continents represented during our event. Apart from competitors from Europe, we hosted runners from South America, Asia and Oceania.

5 – it was fifth edition, held in 5 days formula (small jubilee)

21 – that many flags waved in the competition center. Wawel Cup is an international event.

36 – Wawel Cup has been held uninterrupted since 1982. Our mapper & course planner (Wlodzimierz Dyzio) participated in the organization of the very first competition.

80 – that many people from WKS Wawel – orienteering team were involved in organizing the event. Huge project!

89 – this is the number for posts published in both languages on our website and fanpage. We hope that you are interested in following the information that keeps being posted here!

90 – this is the age of our oldest (Mrs Zielczyńska) competitor, who participated in this year’s Wawel Cup. Chapeau bas!

844 – this is the number representing the total number of participants during this year event. This is a huge success of everyone involved in the promotion of event! Thank you for trusting us and we hope to see you next year!

915 – we have these many ‘likes’ on our fanpage. Thank you for believing in us and we are waiting for 1000!

1161 – this number equals to the number of e-mails on our inbox – zawody@wawelcup.pl We always try to have an individual approach towards our competitors and to help clarify all doubts.

2042 – the number of files in Wawel Cup 2017 folder.

Thank you!

For us this week was absolutely unique! A lot of work, effort… not enough sleep Wawel Cup 36, has now ended and we would like to thank you for having so many of you here! We are proud that again the competition in Poland hosted around 800 competitors who joined us from different parts of Poland, Europe and even from Brazil, China and New Caledonia! It is you who make this event happen!

We owe “thank you” to everyone who helped us organized this event: from people coordinating: logistics, parking places, catering, start point through those who placed control points in the forest and last but not least to ladies from kindergarten – it is no possible to mention them all!

Wawel Cup is already behind us,we are getting to start organizing next year’s event so small plea to you: could you please post your feedback on this year’s event under this photo. We hope to see you on Wawel Cup 37.!

Two days have passed!

We are so thankful that so many of you have joined us! The fast middle run with cosy scenery under the Rabsztyn castle and demanding classic race in Old Olkusz are already behind us. The maps from the competition and the photos are already posted at our fanpage (there will be more) – we encourage you to tag yourselves. There is 3 more days of exciting rivalry ahead of us, see you tomorrow on pits!
